Kiltwalk is a unique charity that enables walkers to raise money for any Scottish charity and, as ME Research UK is based in Perth, we are eligible to participate – but we need your help.
Thanks to Sir Tom Hunter and the Hunter Foundation every pound raised is used to support of work. 2024 saw 32,600 Kiltwalkers take part in Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee, and Edinburgh, raising over £7 million for 1,650 Scottish-registered charities.
To ensure Kiltwalk remained accessible to as many people as possible, entry fees have been kept at £20, encouraging greater participation across Scotland.
There are 4 Kiltwalks planned for 2025 throughout Scotland on 5 different dates and in 4 locations. Registration (and payment of an entrance fee) is required for each event through the Kiltwalk website.
- Glasgow 26th and 27th April – due to high demand a 14 mile Big Stroll from Clydebank to Balloch on Saturday 26 April has been created with all 3 distances being walked on Sunday 27th April 2025.
- Aberdeen 1st June 2025
- Dundee 17th August 2025
- Edinburgh 14th September 2025
With 3 distances to walk from the Wee Wander at 6 miles all the way to the 26 mile Mighty Stroll there will be a distance to suit. Each event has slightly different distances and availability of walks – so choose carefully!
It is not a race and so you can walk at your own pace. Neither will you be alone as not only will your fellow walkers be with you every step of the way but pit stop supporters will be on hand to supply you with water, snacks, entertainment, top class conversation and encouragement across the entire Kiltwalk route. You can walk as an individual or part of a team – a great idea to get workmates and friends involved in fundraising for ME Research UK.
Full details of the events can be found on Kiltwalk’s website together with availability and transport links.
We’ll help as much as we can with fundraising – free t-shirt and publicity.
Not wanting to walk but still want to help? Why not volunteer as a ‘Kiltie’? Kilties receive great training and are fully supported by the Kiltwalk organisers. Kilties give their support at the events, keep walkers’ spirits up and create the most enjoyable day possible. All of the work done, the time given and effort put in makes the Kiltwalks the success they are.
Becoming a Kiltie is very simple and straightforward from start to finish – apply here.
So, whether it is taking part in Kiltwalk or becoming a Kiltwalk volunteer, you can support ME Research UK’s work in 2025.
