Changes in the immune system may help explain why individuals with ME/CFS experience: ongoing “flu-like” symptoms, increased frequency of infections (e.g. colds) compared to before ME/CFS onset, and flare-ups/worsening of ME/CFS symptoms following infectious episodes.
