Blue Sunday is back.
This special tea party was created in 2013 by Anna Redshaw to give people living with ME/CFS a fun and accessible way to get in touch with their community while fundraising.
It is simple to join. Just enjoy your favourite tea and cake, share photos of your tea party on social media, and consider making a small donation to a ME/CFS charity.
Perhaps the price of a cup of tea and a slice of cake, for example.
The idea for Blue Sunday started with Anna’s own experience. In 2012, too unwell to celebrate her birthday in the usual way, she organised a virtual “Tea Party for ME,” where friends and family shared photos of themselves enjoying tea and cake in solidarity. The joy and connection she felt inspired her to turn it into an annual event.
Since then, Blue Sunday has grown into an inclusive, community-driven celebration, allowing people with ME/CFS to take part in a meaningful and fun way, and ME Research UK is delighted to participate in this event organised by Anna Redshaw.
Thank you, Anna, for creating a moment that brings the community together, one cup of tea at a time.
Blue Sunday takes place on May 17
You can join the event however you like. You could wear something blue, enjoy your favourite tea and cake, and share a photo of your tea party online. You can also make a small donation to an ME/CFS charity to support vital biomedical research. Every gift makes a real and meaningful difference.
