The team at ME Research UK is very grateful for all the support which the charity receives from its active fundraisers. At the best of times fundraising can seem a daunting prospect but without your support we could not continue to inform, influence or invest in ME research globally. Our current projects simply would not be funded.
Want to fundraise in aid of our work? We have produced a Fundraising Guide packed full of ideas and links to resources to help you every step of the way.
This month, a number of fundraising pages have been created on JustGiving or VirginMoneyGiving and we would like to thank them all.
Scott Buchanan
On 27th June 2021, Scott Buchanan (@runningbuchanan) will be undertaking the Marathon du Mont Blanc 2021. The event is a 42km run through the alps with a 2730m altitude incline. As Scott says “The reason for doing this and the 18 month training focus is driven by my frustration on ME sufferers who still are not being treated as seriously as they may wish.”
Miriam Simmonds
Miriam Simmonds, husband Mendy, and their dog will be trekking 25km from their home to Jerusalem’s Western Wall on 21st May 2021. As Miriam writes “… so many people … may not receive the support from those around them from lack of understanding on the topic.”
Rachel and Blossom
As part of Walk for ME 2021 Rachel and Blossom will be walking for Lula who was diagnosed with ME/CFS in 2018.
Team Run for ME
Team Run for M.E. has 40 members (thus far) taking part in their own individual runs or walks from wherever in the world, on May 16th 2021, for Walk for ME and to coincide with ME Awareness Week.
Lee Jones
On 16th May 2021 as part of Walk for ME, Lee Jones will be walking a marathon. Lee’s daughter Ellie has suffered with ME for almost two years and he supports ME Research UK “to raise vital funds for research into this terrible illness.”
Mohammad Rafat Rasul
VirginMoney London Marathon will be held virtually this year and one of the runners in the August 2021 event will be fundraising partly for ME Research UK: Mohammad Rafat Rasul.
Susan Hymers
Lastly, many thanks to Susan Hymers whose fundraising page closed in February and who raised a wonderful total for ME Research UK. Amongst other initiatives, Sarah went blue to raise awareness of ME.
