Fundraising Focus – July 2025

The team at ME Research UK is very grateful for all the support which the charity receives from its active fundraisers. At the best of times fundraising can seem a daunting prospect but without your support we could not continue to inform, influence or invest in ME research globally. Our current projects simply would not be funded.

Feel inspired? Our Fundraising Guide gives tips and links to resources to get your support off to a flying start.

If fundraising, it is worthwhile to check with your employer to see if they offer a Matched Funding scheme which will add to your fundraising pot.

If you know of any other fundraising opportunities offered by companies – contact us.

Alison Herbert is currently walking 177 miles in 16 days along Offa’s Dyke.

Alison says “I have recovered from ME/CFS and able to do this long distance walking challenge. I am lucky but thousands aren’t. Too many men and women of all ages are living in the shadows due to this disease. Over a quarter of people with ME/CFS are bedbound. They would love to be able to walk a few steps without crippling fatigue.

“For every £1 you donate it’s another step nearer to helping people with ME/CFS return to normal living.”

Thank you so much Alison.

Phil Wakefield is running in the 2026 TCS London Marathon. Thank you so much.

Phil says: “My daughter has suffered from this debilitating illness during her most important years at school/college but she bravely battled on and was able to gain the required grades. I am so proud of her that she has just completed her first year at university which should give heart and encouragement to other sufferers.”
