ME Research UK has received an update from Dr Alkisti Manousaki, who was awarded a Daphne Jackson Fellowship at the University of Leicester, for a project – jointly funded by ME Research UK and the Medical Research Council – investigating the genetic and cellular clues that may explain why ME/CFS affects more women than men.
Dr Manousaki said:
“It has been very exciting to return to the lab! I have been receiving training in several new techniques and have already started producing a first set of data on model cell lines. I am currently standardising the approaches that I will later apply to primary cells from people with ME/CFS”
ME Research UK looks forward to hearing more about Alkisti’s work as the project progresses!
