Fundraising Focus – October 2021

The team at ME Research UK is very grateful for all the support which the charity receives from its active fundraisers. At the best of times fundraising can seem a daunting prospect but without your support we could not continue to inform, influence or invest in ME research globally. Our current projects simply would not be funded.

Feel inspired? Our Fundraising Guide gives tips and links to resourses to get your support off to a flying start.

Scott Buchanan @runningbuchanan

Scott Buchanan’s re-arranged Mont Blanc marathon took place on 15th October 2021. Scott had been training hard and the event was, due to restriction, delayed a few times. The event is a 42km run through the alps with a 2730m altitude incline. As Scott says “The reason for doing this and the 18 month training focus is driven by my frustration on ME sufferers who still are not being treated as seriously as they may wish.”

We would also like to thank supporters whose fundrasing pages came to a close in September. In particular –

Miriam Simmonds, husband Mendy, and their dog who trekked the 25km from their home to Jerusalem’s Western Wall on 21st May 2021. As Miriam writes “… so many people … may not receive the support from those around them from lack of understanding on the topic.”

Laura Woods who, despite not being the world’s greatest fan of running, undertook 10 days of 10k’s in aid of ME Research UK.
