Fundraising Focus – April 2024

The team at ME Research UK is very grateful for all the support which the charity receives from its active fundraisers. At the best of times fundraising can seem a daunting prospect but without your support we could not continue to inform, influence or invest in ME research globally. Our current projects simply would not be funded.

Feel inspired? Our Fundraising Guide gives tips and links to resourses to get your support off to a flying start.

If fundraising, it is worthwhile to check with your employer to see if they offer a Matched Funding scheme which will add to your fundraising pot.

If you know of any other fundraising opportunities offered by companies – contact us.

Alan Alvis (who last year walked the Isle of Wight in aid of our work) has launched a new fundraiser ‘Surrey Stands with Ukraine fundraiser for ME Research UK’ in which Alan and others will be raising funds to ‘…. give hope of a cure to the daughter of one of our volunteers and countless others here in the UK, in Ukraine and around the world.”

On 19th May 2024, Isaac is hosting an online concert for Blue Sunday – Tea Party for M.E., in aid of ME Research UK and Smile for ME. Isaac, who has a sister with severe ME, mentions that the concert will “feature a wide range of performances from amazing musicians and performers” and there will be “closed captions throughout and no flashing lights to make this event as inclusive as possible”. Special thanks to James Baker who completed 21st April 2024’s TCS London Marathon in a tad over 2 hours 40 min and all in aid of ME Research UK . This was keen runner James’s 5th marathon with ME research being a cause close to his heart as his fiancée is affected by the disease and “.. we realised quickly that research into the life altering illness is grossly underfunded as well as lacking in understanding of the causes & best treatments…”
