Research
The primary aim of ME Research UK is to fund biomedical research into ME/CFS: to find its cause, to develop effective treatments and ultimately to discover a cure.
Following the lead of the report by the Working Party to the Chief Medical Officer of England in 2002, our priority is to support novel clinical and biomedical studies investigating the following the cause of ME and how the illness progresses, the effectiveness of potential treatments, the prevalence of ME and the prognosis for patients, and what characterises the different subgroups of ME.
We fund the work of a growing number of scientists in the UK and worldwide, whose research covers several different areas of interest. We hope to make their findings intelligible to the lay reader, and present them in the wider context of ME/CFS research.
